Understanding Diagrams
It’s important to understand the diagrams you’ll receive from LET Design Works in order to make sure you have any necessary electrical and low voltage added into your home. These diagrams will include items such as: outlets, switches, recessed lights, prewires, and low voltage outlets. In order to read these plans, you first must understand what each symbol means.
Electrical and Low Voltage Symbols
Below is a picture of a key/legend that explains what each symbol on the plans represents. This legend will also be included in the paperwork that is sent to you after your meeting.

You will also notice that there are colors listed on the legend as well. Black represents standard items, blue represents any standard item that has been moved, red represents any added electrical options, and orange represents any added low voltage options. By knowing what each color means, you can determine what items are included standard in your home, and what items you have added in upgrades.

Electrical and Low Voltage Diagrams
Below is an example of a diagram from LET Design Works. You will see the same symbols as described in the above legend. You will also notice that in addition to these symbols, there are lines, or arcs, drawn between many of the electrical items. These arcs indicate what items are controlled together by a switch.

The various symbols are all drawn in different colors. By knowing what each color represents, as noted above on the legend, you can determine what items are included standard in your home, and what items you have added in upgrades.
